Whats happening with Trans Girl Guides & the change within the Trans Girl Brownies. Transgender girls have been given until 6 September to leave Girlguiding following a change in the organisation’s membership policy, which restricts participation to girls and young women.
The policy shift was first announced in December, with the charity saying at the time that it would update its rules around eligibility. Girlguiding said the transition period leading up to September is intended to give affected members and their families time to prepare, access support, and decide when they feel ready to leave.
Under the new guidance, transgender girls will no longer be able to take part in Girlguiding activities. In addition, transgender women currently volunteering in roles designated for women only will be required to move into positions that are open to all volunteers.
Girlguiding is one of the UK’s largest youth organisations, with around 300,000 members aged between four and 18. These members take part in programs across its sections Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers supported by approximately 80,000 volunteers nationwide. But its not supporting UK Trans
No To Trans
The organisation said it does not know how many members or volunteers will be affected by the changes, as it does not collect data on gender identity.
In previous statements, Girlguiding has said the policy change is part of a broader review of its approach to ensuring clarity around single-sex spaces within the organisation. It has emphasized that the decision was made with the intention of maintaining what it describes as a safe and supportive environment for girls and young women.
At the same time, the charity has sought to underline its continued support for LGBTQ+ communities. In a statement, Girlguiding said it remains “committed to standing up for the rights, safety and dignity of girls and women,” while also supporting marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ people, in its work to improve the lives of girls.
The decision marks a significant shift for the organisation and comes amid wider national discussions around gender identity, inclusion, and access to single-sex spaces. Keeping an eye on this as this story evolves…and just why shouldn’t Trans Girl Guides be aloud!
TransgenderUK stands by the rights of other with all inclusion, lets hope counrts can overturn this stupid decision stopping Trans Girls from joining and forcing others to leave
